“Absolutely Bullsh*t Call”: Dave Portnoy Grills Officials As Jeremiah Smith Scores On Highly Controversial Call

The rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan reached a boiling point Saturday as Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy showcased his frustration on social media about a supposed blown call against the Wolverines.

Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin connected with star sophomore receiver Jeremiah Smith, which resulted in a 35-yard touchdown.

Smith appeared to fumble as he approached and crossed the goal line, raising concerns about whether he maintained possession throughout the catch, which eventually prompted the officials to review the play. After the review, the original call was upheld, the call giving the Buckeyes their first touchdown of the game and a 10-6 lead over the Wolverines.

This prompted Michigan superfan Portnoy to react on X, as he showcased his frustration, writing:

“Absolutely bullshit call. That’s a fumble touch back”

The game currently has the Ohio State Buckeyes sitting in the drivers seat with a 17-9 lead over the Wolverines after the end of the second quarter.

Throwback To Dave Portnoy Calling The Buckeyes “Cowards”

Dave Portnoy is a Michigan superfan, and considering the Wolverines’ rich rivalry history against the Buckeyes, this is not the first time he’s been critical of the Ohio-based side.

While appearing on the Fox Show ahead of Ohio State’s game against Illinois, Portnoy called the Buckeyes “cowards” as he explained how Ohio doesn’t like to play physical football.

You got to remember they are cowards. They are cowards. So what that means is if you punch them in the face, they will fall like a tent. They don’t like playing physical football”, Portnoy stated.

Portnoy further analyzed Ohio State’s weaknesses, stating how the Buckeyes don’t like to play long and close games, essentially asking the opponents to take the game deep against them.

They don’t like playing close games. If you get this into the fourth quarter, Ryan Day will pee down his leg. He’ll forget that Jermiah Smith even exists. So get him in deep water”, Portnoy further explained

Portnoy also had hilarious advice for the Illinois team, asking them to switch their helmet colors to that of Michigan, considering Michigan’s head-to-head record over them.

The Buckeyes, meanwhile, are currently unbeaten this season with an 11-0 record, sitting pretty in the 2nd spot amongst SEC teams, while Michigan occupies the third spot in SEC standings with a record of 9-2.
