During FOX Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff pregame show, Michigan superfan Dave Portnoy criticized the mental toughness of Ohio State. In the lead-up to Saturday’s three-game day as the No. 1 Buckeyes prepared to take on the undefeated Washington, Portnoy wasted no time letting everyone know how he felt about Ohio State’s ability to stand up in tough situations.
“I am an Ohio State expert. You get them in deep water. Nobody panics and pees down their leg faster than Ryan Day in Ohio State,” stated Portnoy (0:28).

Portnoy’s comments came as both the Buckeyes (3-0) and Huskies (3-0) are set to face off in what is seen as one of the best matchups in college football this weekend.
Dave Portnoy also highlighted Ohio State’s history of completely folding underneath pressure, particularly in relation to their challenges against Michigan. The Buckeyes are 8.5-point favorites going into the game, but would have to go on the road to match up against Washington who are still undefeated this season.
“Anytime they are in trouble, they fold. We’ve seen it versus Michigan. I think Washington, you keep that third, fourth quarter, you’ll see the true Ohio State team come out when they can’t be the bully,” he further elaborated (0:37).
Meanwhile, Washington comes into the contest with a 22-game home winning streak, the longest in program history. Also the Huskies quarterback, Demond Williams Jr., is a serious dual-threat that could easily put Ohio State in tough situations.

Dave Portnoy Pushes Back on Ohio State Ban Rumors
Recent speculation suggested that Dave Portnoy was banned from segments in Ohio State’s stadium but he was quick to backtrack. Portnoy stated that any scheduling scenarios are determined not by the universities, but by executives at FOX. Regardless, this adds to Portnoy’s already contentious relationship with the Ohio side.
Even amid the pushback, Portnoy remains optimistic about Michigan for the 2025 season. He has been especially vocal about freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, calling him the “best freshman ever,” as a result of his breakout performances. While Michigan is currently standing at 3-1, Portnoy optimistically claims that the Wolverines will make the College Football Playoff.
The Saturday contest between Ohio State and Washington will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs as Big Ten rivals. The Buckeyes hold a 9-3 advantage in all-time series history.
