Can Dakorien Moore Emerge As Oregon Football’s Top Wide Receiver In Year 1?
Moore is entering Eugene with sky-high expectations, and national analysts believe he could become Oregon’s primary receiving threat as a true freshman. The 5-star talent, rated the No. 1 wideout in the 2025 recruiting class, is already drawing comparisons to recent freshman stars like Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams.
Matt Prehm of DuckTerritory described Moore as an “ultimate playmaker,” noting that
“Every single peer has just gushed about his playmaking ability.”
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning echoed that sentiment:
“He’s a guy that’s going to compete every single day, and you see that in practice.” Moore himself is confident about his potential: “I feel like I can make an impact right away. I’m just trying to show what I can do.”
According to ESPN’s Billy Tucker,
“Moore is the highest-graded receiver ESPN has evaluated since 2020,” with a 93 rating that surpasses even those elite names.
Moore, a two-time Texas 6A Division I state champion at Duncanville, built a staggering prep résumé: 204 receptions, 4,113 yards, and 48 touchdowns. His junior season featured 1,523 yards and 18 scores at a blistering 21.5 yards per catch.
He also brings elite speed to the field, clocking a 10.63-second 100-meter dash and contributing to a national-record 4×200 relay team. That track explosiveness translates directly into his vertical threat and game-breaking RAC (run after catch) ability.

With his versatility and explosiveness, Moore appears ready to quickly step into a significant role. Despite Oregon’s depth at wide receiver—including veterans like Evan Stewart, Jurrion Dickey, and Kyler Kasper—the WR1 spot remains open. Tucker predicts Moore will break through early:
“Moore will be a starter by midseason — he’s simply too talented to keep off the field.”
If Moore earns quarterback Dante Moore’s trust early, he could mirror breakout freshman seasons like Smith’s 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns at Ohio State. With a complete skill set and spring practice experience, Moore is poised to make noise from day one in Eugene.
