‘Get Used to It’: Fans React As Colorado QB Julian Lewis Left Heartbroken After Crushing Loss Against WVU in Week 11

Freshman quarterback Julian Lewis entered the 2025 college football season carrying enormous expectations. Lewis was expected to usher in a new era for the Colorado Buffaloes under head coach Deion Sanders.

In his debut as the team’s starter, Lewis threw for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns, signaling that he has the tools to be a future star. But the 2025 season has been far from smooth for Colorado.

The Buffaloes have struggled to find consistency, falling to a 3-7 record after a crushing 29-22 loss to West Virginia in Week 11. Despite a solid individual performance, the game ended in heartbreak for Lewis, who took the loss hard.

In a video posted by a fan account on social media, the young quarterback was seen sitting in the locker room, visibly emotional, saying, “I hate that losing sh*t.”

The video quickly went viral. Some fans praised Lewis’s passion and competitive fire, viewing it as a sign of leadership and accountability. Others mocked the reaction, arguing that his drive may be wasted in a struggling program that continues to falter under high expectations.

“Get used to it, welcome to Colorado,” a fan wrote.

“Well you did go to Colorado,” a fan wrote.

“Kid wasting his talent at cu,” a fan wrote.

“Then you should not be playing for Colorado and Deion Sanders,” a fan wrote.

“I love how much he cares. That has been sorely missing on this team. We need his leadership,” a fan wrote.

“He better get used to losing cuz Colorado ain’t winning nothing no time soon,” a fan wrote.

Despite a heartbreaking start and the harsh criticism from some fans, Lewis has made his mark as far as his coach is concerned.

    Deion Sanders Praised Julian Lewis

After the loss, head coach Deion Sanders publicly backed his young quarterback and reaffirmed his belief in Lewis’s potential. Sanders highlighted that Lewis displayed the kind of composure and determination that the program needs moving forward.

He credited the freshman for stepping up under pressure, showing strong command of the offense, and giving the Buffaloes a real chance to win. Sanders emphasized that Lewis’s performance, especially in his first start, was proof that he’s the future of Colorado football.

“First start. He did some wonderful things. And you can see that Julian Lewis is going to be very special. And to me, overall, the kid played well. He played well enough for us to win the game,” Sanders SAID during the post-game press conference.

While he acknowledged that the team needs to protect Lewis better and clean up mistakes, Sanders said his young quarterback did everything asked of him.
