Deion Sanders Reportedly Wants Colorado Buffaloes to Play Bill Belichick, North Carolina in Spring Game

Agent Carl Reed Jr., who represents players through Klutch Sports, recently posted online a quote from a conversation he had with Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

While most teams play inter-squad scrimmages during spring ball, Coach Prime has stated he wants his team to play a big-name ACC opponent to bolster up for 2025.

Deion Sanders Names North Carolina as His Preferred Spring Opponent

Agent Carl Reed Jr.’s post on X detailed Coach Prime’s plan for the Buffaloes spring schedule.

“I just talked to @DeionSanders, and he has thought this spring game idea through thoroughly

“He would like to play a spring game against @Belichick_B and @UNCFootball

“‘Everything should follow a professional structure, as this is what the pros do. I’m trying to help salvage spring games and spring football, especially since a multitude of high-profile programs have already canceled their spring games.'”

Sanders reportedly wants the NCAA to borrow from the NFL model, in which teams have joint practices and play a game at the end of each week’s practice.

Meanwhile, college teams scrimmage against themselves only after practices. The NCAA does not permit teams to play against another school in the spring.

Syracuse Head Coach Fran Brown was the first to accept Sanders’s offer. In response to a tweet by On3, he said he would accept the challenge of a battle against Sanders and the Buffaloes.

Sanders responded to the tweet by Brown, saying, “Lova ya my brother! Coach Fran Brown is my Dawg!!!!”

The college spring games may be coming to an end, though. According to an ESPN article, Nebraska, Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and USC are among the schools that are doing so.

“No, we’re not going to have a spring game,” Texas coach Sarkisian told Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams Show” podcast last month.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are having skills competitions and a 7-on-7 format. Matt Rhule says that the format could mean that teams will poach players, with the spring transfer portal happening April 16-25, 2025.

Sanders had this to say about the spring games.

“Everybody’s moving to stop spring games, I don’t know why,” Sanders said. “You’re not going to stop nobody from leaving your program by not having a spring game. If you want to save money, just say that. The kid’s already gone. They already reached out and contacted somebody else. They’re already gone.”
