College Football Rumors: Cam Ward Wraps Up Portal Recruitment Visits
Former Washington State Cougars quarterback Cam Ward, one of the hottest properties in the college football transfer portal, won’t visit any more programs after spending time with the Seminoles and Hurricanes over the last few days. Speaking to 247Sports’ Brendan Sonnone, the father of the highly sought-after quarterback says he won’t take any more in-person visits.
However, that doesn’t mean FSU and Miami (FL) fans should spend their Saturday anxiously waiting for an announcement. According to his father, Ward will be back home in Texas fishing before finalizing his decision over where he’ll play his football for the 2024 college football season.

As such, don’t expect any news to come before Sunday, while it could be early next week.
With Jordan Travis headed to the NFL, the Seminoles are looking to bring in an experienced and talented passer to continue the success they’ve achieved this season. While Ward himself has remained tight-lipped on his visit, father Calvin was clearly impressed with a program coming off an undefeated run to the ACC title.
“My wife and I actually got to sit-in and listen to some of it,” the elder Ward said of his son’s meetings while in Tallahassee. “I was impressed with that. Overall, Coach Norvell, how he coaches, his plan to keep Florida State at the top. So those are the key things that jumped out to me.”
Ward was in Miami earlier this week prior to the FSU visit, and according to On3.com’s Pete Nakos, the Hurricanes were considered the favorite to land the explosive dual-threat. Mario Cristobal’s team are in the market for a quarterback following Tyler Van Dyke’s departure.
It remains to be seen if Ward’s visit to Tallahassee has swayed him towards Florida State or solidified the view that he will head to the Hurricanes. Either way, it appears that he won’t take any more visits, wrapping up his recruitment before settling on his destination for the 2024 college football season.
