With the Week 2 AP Poll out, the opening weekend delivered anticipated changes following a chaotic Week 1. Ohio State vaulted to No. 1, Texas tumbled to No. 7, and newcomers like Florida State, Utah, and Illinois crashed the rankings. As we head into week two, here are the best bets for every top-25 team playing this weekend.
#1 Ohio State vs. Grambling State
Grambling State allowed 38 points in Week 1, and OSU is a heavy favorite. Expect fireworks from the Buckeyes, who were pretty limited in production last week against Texas.
Bet: Over 55.5 Total Points
2. #2 Penn State vs. FIU
Penn State rolled 46–11 in their opener. FIU’s defense struggled last season, making this a safe blowout chalk.
Bet: PSU -41.5
3. #3 LSU vs. Louisiana Tech
After upsetting Clemson, LSU hosts a much weaker Louisiana Tech; this should easily go the Tigers’ way.
Bet: LSU -36.5
#5 Miami vs. Bethune-Cookman
Miami should carry its momentum in an easy win against an FCS opponent.
Bet: Miami -28
6. #6 Oregon vs. Oklahoma State
A few years ago, this could have been a brutal home opener for the Ducks. Now there is a fair amount of uncertainty in Stillwater, which gives the nod to the Ducks.
Bet: Oregon -28.5
#7 Texas vs. San Jose State
36.5 is way too many points against a Texas team that is still finding its footing. The offense should bounce back, but San Jose State should cover here.
Bet: San Jose State +36.5
#8 Clemson vs. Troy
Clemson is in a bounce-back spot after LSU held them to nothing in the second half.
Bet: Clemson -32.5
#10 South Carolina vs. SC State
The Gamecocks are coming off an impressive win against Virginia Tech and should have the advantage in this lopsided rivalry.
Bet: South Carolina -30
#11 Illinois at Duke
This is expected to be a tight game, but if Illinois wants to fight for a CFP spot, this win will be needed. Luke Altmyer gives them the advantage on the road.
Bet: Illinois ML -155
#12 Arizona State at Mississippi State
Sam Leavitt threw for 257 yards last week, and the Bulldogs’ secondary struggled against Southern Mississippi.
Best bet: Sam Leavitt Over 231.5 Passing Yards
#13 Florida vs. South Florida
USF was thoroughly impressive in their win vs Boise State. Their defense could pose problems for DJ Lagway early in this one.
Bet: USF +17.5
#15 Michigan at #18 Oklahoma
John Mateer threw for 392 yards in Oklahoma’s opening victory. The Sooners seem to have a capable offense against a freshman quarterback in Bryce Underwood on the other side.
Bet: Oklahoma -5.5
#16 Iowa State vs. Iowa
This game tends to be low scoring, but Iowa has been trending offensively.
Bet: Over 41.5 total points
#17 SMU vs Baylor
SMU dominated their opening weekend, and Baylor got trashed by Auburn in week 1. The Bears seem to have no answer to mobile quarterbacks, and Kevin Jennings is on the other side.
Bet: SMU -2.5
#19 Texas A&M vs Utah State
Aggies struggled to run the ball vs UTSA, and Utah State held UTEP to 103 rushing yards. The battle of the Aggies could be closer than many anticipate.
Bet: Utah State +31.5
#20 Ole Miss at Kentucky
Austin Simmons looked impressive, throwing for 341 yards in his debut start for the Rebels. This should be an easy first SEC test for him.
Bet: Ole Miss -10
#21 Alabama vs Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks
Kalen DeBoer should come into this game with a lot of fire following Alabama’s shocking loss to Florida State.
Bet: Alabama -37.5
#23 Indiana vs Kennesaw State
After early struggles last week, Indiana should come out red hot against Kennesaw State.
Bet: Indiana -35.5
#24 Texas Tech vs Kent State
Behnren Morton seems to be questionable for Saturday’s game after an injury in the first game. 48.5 is too many points if you’re potentially missing your starting quarterback.
Bet: Kent State +48.5
Bottom Line
Week 2 brings some intriguing matchups and light rivalries for an entertaining weekend ahead. With an action-packed weekend, Week 2 should continue to reveal contenders and pretenders.
