    Saturday College Football Player Props

John Copenhaver Under 35.5 Receiving Yards

The North Carolina Tar Heels’ passing game has struggled down the stretch, and now they face a strong UConn Huskies defense that has been stingy all season.

Take your pick on receiver under, but I think the Tar Heels target JJ Jones to get him involved early and Kobe Paysour has the speed and big play ability to hit his over in one play. Instead, look at tight end John Copenhaver, who hasn’t built a strong rapport with Jacolby Criswell so far.

Emmett Johnson Over 19.5 Receiving Yards

The Nebraska Cornhuskers finally made a bowl after the longest postseason drought in the Power Four. I don’t expect them to sleepwalk through a chance to finish the season with a winning record.

Running back Emmett Johnson has found something as a receiver these last few weeks. He’s had at least 25 yards and six catches in three straight games. If your book offers reception totals, consider an over on his receptions. I took an aggressively-priced over 3.5 receptions.

Ben Wooldridge 2+ Passing TDs (+164)

Ben Wooldridge is back from injury, and that’s great news for a Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns offense that has struggled without him. The Ragin’ Cajuns have moved the ball at will against bad defenses, and the TCU Horned Frogs unit is not great.

Despite the Ragin’ Cajuns having some skill players out, I like Wooldridge to have a great game, and these odds are excellent for a guy who has been dynamic this season.

Cam Ward 300+ Passing Yards (+215)

Maybe my read is off, but there is no world in which Cam Ward should have odds longer than +200 to throw for 300 yards. I know the Iowa State Cyclones are third nationally, with just 161 passing yards per game allowed. They also played a few dynamic passers and the ones they did face all threw for over 225 yards.

Ward is second nationally in passing yardage, throwing for over 300 yards in 10 of 12 games, failing to reach that number in two blowouts. This game should be closer, and I love the juice for 300 yards. If you’re not as risky, his standard over of 268.5 is my favorite even-money play of the day.

    Avery Morrow Anytime TD (+115)

It’s always risky taking an anytime touchdown in a game with a total of 49.5, but Avery Morrow is the Colorado State Rams offense. He hasn’t scored in two games after he was injured against the Fresno State Bulldogs, but he has scored in six of his other nine games.

The Rams have an implied total of around 19 points. If they score a couple of touchdowns, I expect one of them to be from Morrow.

    Anthony Smith Anytime Touchdown (+150)

The East Carolina Pirates will be down a few receivers in the bowl game, but Anthony Smith, their leading pass catcher, will be good to go. He’s scored six touchdowns this season, including four in the six games since Katin Houser took over at quarterback.

I think the Pirates will put up a fight and maybe even win outright in what should be a high-scoring game. Expect Houser to look Smith’s way early and often.

Jake Retzlaff 2+ Passing TDs (+120)

While most eyes are on the Colorado Buffaloes’ passing offense, I think the BYU Cougars could have some fireworks of their own through the air. Jake Retzlaff is a dynamic dual-threat for a team that looked worn down at the end of the year.

The Alamo Bowl often has fireworks, and these are two strong offenses that really want to win. Expect Retzlaff to have more than a couple of opportunities to showcase his arm in the red zone on Saturday.

Bryson Daily Over 0.5 Passing TDs (-114)

I don’t have a great read on this Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs. Army Black Knights game, and I’m not sure the sportsbooks do either, as the player props are slim pickings. I do think Army wants to wash away the bad taste of an ugly loss to the Navy Midshipmen.

Bryson Daily’s rushing total is extremely high here, and I just don’t know how long he’ll play or what kind of game he’ll have. I do think the Black Knights try a long pass or two, though, and I don’t hate the even odds on his passing touchdown prop.
