With the 2025 college football season approaching, the championship talk is already in midseason form. Last season’s College Football Playoff proved that the sport is wide open, but that’s not to say that favorites aren’t beginning to assemble and be compared. Here’s a rundown on the top betting picks to win the title, based on current championship odds from DraftKings.

Top Betting Favorites to win the College Football Playoff after the 2025 Regular Season

Texas: 11/2
The Texas Longhorns are a deeply unsurprising favorite entering the season. The Longhorns open at No. 1 in both the preseason coaches’ and AP polls. Arch Manning will lead the potent Texas offense in 2025, and he returns with elite back Quintrevion Wisner. Defensively, linebacker Anthony Hill leads a group that allowed just 15.3 points per game last year. Texas may have some growing pains, but it opens the year as a top title contender.
Ohio State: 11/2
The defending champions tie with Texas for the favorite to win the next title. Plenty of new faces will be key for Ohio State in 2025, starting with the quarterback, who will probably be Julian Sayin.
Jeremiah Smith might be the best returning player in the country and the defense, if he can approach last year’s 12.9 points per game allowed, should be just fine. There’s a multitude of new faces there, but Caleb Downs is one strong returnee.
Penn State: 7/1
The Nittany Lions team has a ‘now or never’ kind of feeling as James Franklin returns with as much talent as he’s had in his dozen seasons at State College. Returning QB Drew Aller threw for 3,327 yards and 24 scores last year, and a pair of 1,000-yard rushers return in Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Defensively, safety Zakee Wheatley leads an aggressive and tenacious group. Can they outlast OSU and win it all?
Georgia: 15/2
Georgia isn’t far off the pace of the favorites for the CFP title. QB Carson Beck had a disappointing season a year ago, but backup Gunner Stockton is ready to assume the starting role. A year ago, a disappointing receiver corps hurt Georgia, but top transfers have beefed up this group. Defensively, linebacker CJ Allen will be a leader for the squad. Georgia is a solid pick just outside the top three teams in betting odds.
Clemson: 10/1
The pride of the ACC, Clemson is geared up for a strong title challenge. That starts with QB Cade Klubnik, who could be a legitimate candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Klubnik passed for 3,639 yards and 36 scores last year and could be even better this year with his top three receivers returning.
On defense, backers Wade Woodaz and Sammy Brown were the top two tacklers a season ago, and both are back in 2025. Clemson could surprise here.
Alabama: 10/1
Alabama is getting strong betting action for a team that opens the season ranked No. 8. The Tide are seeking a big season in coach Kalen DeBoer’s second year, following Nick Saban’s departure. Receiver Ryan Williams should be one of the nation’s best at his position (865 yards and eight TDs last year as a true freshman). Deontae Lawson is a top linebacker as Alabama looks to improve on just 25 sacks registered a year ago, which is likely.
