    College Football Bye Week 8: Full List Of Teams Missing In Action This Week ft. NC State

    We are entering Week 8 of college football where while most teams in action, some notable teams will be in rest mode. At this time of the season, top ranked teams are preparing to do everything in their power to make it to the 12-team College Football Playoff field while others are looking to become bowl eligible by winning six games or more.

    Ranked College Football Teams with a Bye In Week 8

    Out of 134 FBS programs, 128 are in action during Week 8, while six are idle. And none of those six programs are ranked.

    NC State Wolfpack

    Three ACC teams have a bye this week and one of them is NC State Wolfpack. The program enters this week with a 4-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark in ACC play. They last played against Notre Dame and were defeated 36-7. Before that, they recorded wins against Campbell, East Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest and registered losses against Virginia Tech and Duke.

    Virginia Tech Hokies

    Another ACC team off this week is the Virginia Tech Hokies who have a 2-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in ACC play. In their most recent outing, they lost against No. 12 Georgia Tech 35-20. Before that, they were defeated by Wake Forest, Old Dominion, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina. Their two wins were against NC State and Wofford.

    Wake Forest Demon Deacons

    Wake Forest is off this week with a 4-2 overall record ( 1-2 in the ACC). They most recently defeated Oregon State 39–14 on Oct. 11. Before that, they defeated Virginia Tech 30-23 on Oct. 4. Their two early losses came to NC State and Georgia Tech. Their non-conference victories include against Kennesaw State and Western Carolina.

    Illinois Fighting Illini

    Illinois is the lone Big Ten team on bye Week-8. They have a 5-2 overall record and 2-2 in conference play. After beating Purdue 43-27, they lost 34-16 to No. 1 Ohio State on Oct. 11. After their ongoing bye week, head coach Bret Bielema’s team will face SMU at home and then go to Florida State.

    The above are the only teams in Power Four conferences with a bye in Week 8. From Mountain West, there are two more teams, Fresno State and San Diego State, who have a bye in Week 8.
