College Football AP Poll Top 25 Ballot: Insider Names USF Among 3 New Additions Following Historic Win Over Billy Napier’s Florida

Week 2 of the college football season has concluded, and as a result, the new AP Poll Top 25 will soon be revealed. While the new poll does not typically get released until the early afternoon on Sunday, some voters reveal their ballots in advance. One of the people who does this regularly is On3 Insider Brett McMurphy. In the early hours of Sunday morning, shortly after the last games on Saturday finished, he revealed his Top 25 rankings.

On his list, Brett McMurphy had three new additions to the Top 25: USF, Mississippi State and Missouri. They replace Florida, SMU and Arizona State, all of which fell out of his Top 25 rankings.

The USF Bulls had one of the biggest upsets of the week, as they defeated the No. 13-ranked Florida Gators 18-16. As a result of the game, McMurphy moved USF into the No. 21-ranked spot on his list and dropped Florida out of the rankings.

McMurphy also slotted Mississippi State into the No. 23 slot after a 24-20 win over Arizona State. Missouri was the final team to make the list at No. 25 after a 42-31 win over Kansas.

Which Teams Are in the Top 5 of Brett McMurphy’s AP Top 25 Poll?

While there was a lot of movement towards the middle and bottom of Brett McMurphy’s Top 25 Poll, the teams at the top were some of the teams most fans would expect to see. Ohio State remained in the top slot after a dominant 70-0 win over Grambling. LSU was the No. 2-ranked team, followed by Georgia, Penn State and Miami, rounding out the top five.

Brett McMurphy’s top seven from last week all stayed the same. Including the top five, Texas and Oregon round out the top seven. All of those teams had dominant wins over lesser opponents in Week 2. As a result, McMurphy likely felt like he did not have much justification to move any of them in his rankings.

One of the most significant adjustments came from Oklahoma jumping into the top 10 following its 24-13 win over Michigan. Conversely, the Wolverines fell to No. 20 on his list.
