It’s crunch time in the SEC, and the baseball fandom is loving the drama. With six weekends in the books and four more to go, the second half of the 2025 SEC baseball season is pretty much a Texas summer.
This past week saw wins, upsets, and a lot of movement in the rankings. But one thing has remained consistent: Texas is topping the charts. With series packed in from Thursday to Saturday due to Easter Sunday, the schedule was wild.
Five top-25 matchups, combined with bubble teams stepping up. And there are a few top contenders getting knocked off their pedestals.

Who Tops the SEC Baseball Rankings?
Let’s not bury the lede: Texas is cooking. The Longhorns took down an Auburn team that had come into Austin with a six-game win streak. That makes it three games clear of the pack for Texas, and in their first-ever SEC season, no less.
That win did not just pad their record. It also gave them two games against Arkansas, which stumbled against Texas A&M. To make the plot better, this week, the Longhorns will play the Aggies. Behind Texas, things are getting tight.
Arkansas (13–5) holds onto No. 2, despite the series loss. They’ve been the offensive juggernaut of the league. But that is not going to matter if they keep losing when it matters. Then there’s LSU, which climbed from No. 6 to No. 3. Quietly lethal, the Tigers are top-5 in both runs scored and runs allowed.
At No. 4, Tennessee has the arms; they are leading the nation in strikeout rate. But their last loss to Kentucky questioned a lot of things. That loss dropped the Vols a spot. Speaking of Kentucky, don’t count them out just yet. The Wildcats jumped from 12th to 10th and are suddenly looking like a legitimate threat.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M’s redemption arc is ongoing The Aggies were dead in the water at 1–9 in conference. Now, they have won seven of their last eight SEC games, took a series from Arkansas, and sit at No. 6. Now that is the wonder of momentum.
The top five last week? Only Texas held its ground. Everyone else caught a loss, some worse than others. So let’s get into the new-look top 10:
- Texas | 33-5, 16-2 SEC
- Arkansas | 34-7, 13-5
- LSU | 34-7, 12-6
- Tennessee | 33-7, 12-6
- Vanderbilt | 30-10, 11-7
- Texas A&M | 23-16, 8-10
- Georgia | 33-9, 10-8
- Auburn | 27-13, 9-9
- Oklahoma | 29-10, 10-8
- Kentucky | 22-15, 8-10
