The MLB season is drawing to a close, and there’s no chance that the Pittsburgh Pirates of Paul Skenes will advance to play in October. The Pirates rest comfortably, or rather uncomfortably, at the bottom of the National League Central, 27.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers, who have clinched the division.
However, if one Pirate had a somewhat presentable year, it was Skenes, who started in 31 games this season, posting 10 victories and 10 losses. He has a rather impressive earned run average of 2.03 and an even better WAR (Wins Above Replacement) than last year at 7.2 (5.9 in 2024). All of this earned him an All-Star selection this year, his second in a row after also making the cut during his rookie year.
His fiancée, Olivia Dunne, also a former LSU student player like Skenes himself, seems to be in a celebratory mood about her fiancé’s season despite the poor overall season the team had in 2025.
In her latest story, the former LSU gymnast showed her outfit for this Wednesday, including a pair of Paul Skenes’ personalized cowboy boots. The boots had the pitcher’s last name on them, alongside his number and the color scheme of the Pirates. She paired the boots with mini shorts in a mirror selfie.
Olivia Dunne made a name for herself as a student athlete at Baton Rouge, despite not being the top performer of the gymnastics squad. However, she was the poster girl for the NIL revolution. She was the best-valued female student athlete in terms of NIL endorsements, with $4.1 million. She also helped the school win the 2024 gymnastics national championship.
Paul Skenes Throws The Last Game Of His 2025 MLB Regular Season
On Tuesday, Paul Skenes threw his last game of the season, in what has so far been a disastrous series of the Pirates against the Chicago Cubs. The game was a defeat for Pittsburgh, with Chicago winning 4-1. It was also one of the poorest starts from their ace in 2025, with Skenes allowing multiple runs in the first inning for the first time in his career.
Paul Skenes was saddled with the loss, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits, giving up three walks, and striking out six. He was awarded three earned runs, two in the first inning and the second in the following inning.
The game started poorly for him, giving up a homer to Michael Busch in the encounter’s first at-bat. Later on, in the first inning, he allowed a single by Pete Crow-Amstrong, with runners on second and first. Ian Happ scored from second. In the second inning, Busch doubled to the right and advanced to third on a single by Nico Hoerner. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Happ.
