Olivia Dunne might have been at the US Open to see Aryna Sabalenka play, but she knows better than to ignore Paul Skenes’ start against the Colorado Rockies. In an Instagram story from Sunday, the LSU social media darling shared how she saw the Pirates versus the Rockies game on her phone while Sabalenka beat Switzerland’s Rebeka Masarova.
Understandably, Dunne wanted to watch the encounter, as her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, was starting for Pittsburgh. And a quality start he had indeed. He threw seven innings, allowing only three hits and striking out seven Rockies.
At the US Open, in turn, the Belarusian No. 1 player in the world won her match in two sets, 7-5 and 6-1.

She also said that the support of the crowd helped her pull through a difficult first set:
“When I won that set point and you were cheering me up, I had goosebumps while I was sitting,” Sabalenka said on the court. “Your support means a lot to me, and thank you so much.”
Despite her No. 1 spot in the ATP Tour’s ranking, 2025 hasn’t been a good year for the 27-year-old Belarusian, as she’s yet to win a Grand Slam this season. At the Australian and French Open, she reached the finals, and at Wimbledon, she fell in the semifinals. The US Open is her last chance for a 2025 Grand Slam Victory.
Last year, she won both the Australian and the US Open. Her first Grand Slam victory came in 2023 when she won her first Australian Open. She clearly has a predilection for playing on hard surfaces.
