Paul Skenes has quickly become one of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball over the past two seasons. His fame has grown quickly, and now he is often in the spotlight. However, he is not just in the spotlight because of what he does on the baseball field. He is also known for being in one of the most well-known sports power couples in North American sports.
He is in a relationship with former LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne. While she retired earlier this year, she is now one of the most famous Sports Illustrated swimsuit models, making her debut for the brand in 2023. She has built a huge platform of 5.4 million followers on Instagram.
Despite the huge popularity of Skenes and Dunne, they are nowhere close to the most famous couple in North American sports. That designation goes to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his relationship with country and pop music superstar Taylor Swift. Earlier this week, Travis Kelce’s Podcast, “New Heights,” announced that Swift would appear on this week’s episode.
Along with the announcement came a few promo clips. In one of the clips, Swift jokingly spoke about the football audience wanting to see more of her.
“We all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there’s one thing male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it’s more of me,” Swift said.
Olivia Dunne reposted this clip to her Instagram story, echoing Swift’s sentiment with a three-word comment.
“SHE GETS IT,” Olivia Dunne wrote.
Paul Skenes Credits Olivia Dunne for Helping Him Navigate the Pressures of Fame
While Paul Skenese was known in baseball circles during his college days, his fame has increased significantly since entering the MLB. In an interview with GQ earlier this year, he credited Dunne with helping him navigate the new pressure he faced with his sudden fame.
“She’s been dealing with all the notoriety and all that longer than I have,” Paul Skenes said. “I view it as, it’s not my job to take pictures with these people. It’s my job to throw, and them wanting to take pictures is getting in the way of that. But she always handles everything very well. She’s very comfortable to be around for other people who come up and ask to talk, that kind of thing.”
