Who Are the Top College Baseball Teams?

As any fan would suspect, the SEC currently dominates the top of the rankings.

    No. 1 Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns make the leap to No. 1 here despite a loss this weekend to Kentucky. Texas lost a 15-inning thriller to the Wildcats but battled back on Sunday to take the series, 2-1, over UK.

They went 3-1 this past week with a dominant showing against Houston Christian and utilized their depth and bats to take the series from Kentucky away from home. Their away series victory showcases their potential strength away from home, something fans wanted to see if they could handle after last week’s series victory over Georgia.

    No. 2 Arkansas Razorbacks

A week after Texas swept Georgia to push Arkansas for the No. 1 spot, the Razorbacks fell victim on the road to the Bulldogs. Despite a commanding victory on Friday against the Dawgs, Arkansas dropped their weekend set to Georgia by the same score, 7-6, only the Sunday defeat came in extras.

Arkansas was due a bump in the road at some point this season as they now sit at 32-5 with two of those losses coming this weekend. It’s likely they’ll rebound as they were a half inning away from taking the series against Georgia, but nevertheless, the Longhorns finally leapfrog the Razorbacks as we reach the halfway point of April.

    No. 3 Clemson Tigers

The Clemson Tigers went 3-1 last week, dropping only their final game of the weekend series to Stanford after showcasing their bats in the first two games of the series. Clemson has put forth a dominant offensive display during most of the season and Aidan Knaak has exceeded expectations of late.

With Cam Cannarella at the plate, this Tigers team is a formidable opponent. Not on that the rest of the ACC wants to see get hot as we approach May.
