The Cleveland Browns training camp continues as the starting quarterback battle heats up at Akron. Shedeur Sanders is currently battling against three other worthy candidates. Fans are divided on who should get the QB1 nod, though many believe it should be the son of NFL great and Colorado’s ‘Coach Prime’ Deion Sanders. Many even believe that there are people trying to sabotage his chances at being QB1.
Sanders has plenty of critics, including analyst Colin Cowherd, who has so far been unimpressed with the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback. During his program, “The Herd With Colin Cowherd,” he admitted that he does not believe that the Browns organization is sabotaging Sanders and that the fifth round pick should instead prove himself on the field.
“Shedeur Sanders, he’s gonna start Friday. He has only had one practice with the ones, and he’s going to start,” said Cowherd. “And this is now being called sabotage, ‘Cleveland doesn’t want him to succeed.'”
“Shedeur Sanders has been with the Browns through OTAs, rookie minicamp and training camp. He knows the playbook, the head coach, the coordinator and his teammates. And because he only gets one practice with the ones, it’s sabotage. You’ve got to be kidding me. Stop pandering, stop protecting, media,” he added.
“The great ones consider this opportunity. Wasn’t it Shedeur who called himself legendary in the draft room? Let’s see if he is,” he noted.
As Cowherd had noted, Shedeur Sanders only had one practice with the Cleveland Browns’ starters, and he will now be starting to see how well he plays with them and how compatible he is with them. With the fact that he only practiced once with them, fans are already crying foul. However, as Cowherd noted, he had already had ample time to get to know that Browns playbook and his teammates.

How Did Shedeur Sanders Do in the Final Practice Ahead of Preseason Opener?
With Dillon Gabriel and Kenny Pickett experiencing some injury issues, the Browns have tapped Shedeur Sanders to start in their preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, despite Joe Flacco being the one listed as QB1. This decision was made after the joint training camp with the Panthers concluded, with him going 4 of 7 in joint practice against the Panthers.
In comparison. Flacco went for 8 of 13, while Kenny Pickett was 5 of 7 with two touchdowns, and Gabriel was 7 of 8 with a touchdown. Head coach Kevin Stefanski noted that Shedeur Sanders will be getting plenty of reps soon, though he would not be starting many of the starters in the preseason opener against South Carolina.
