“I Can’t Unsee It”: Colin Cowherd Minces No Words As He Expresses Concerns Over Arch Manning’s Capabilities After Week 1’s Disappointment

Texas quarterback Arch Manning is beginning his first season as the starting QB for the Longhorns. While many first-time starters have a lot of hype, Manning entered the season on a whole other level. Many fans and media members projected him to be in the Heisman Trophy conversation.

However, in the first game of the season against Ohio State, Manning struggled. While it was a tough matchup, there are many who are concerned that this could be a trend going forward. On Wednesday, on a new episode of “The Colin Cowherd Podcast,” Colin Cowherd spoke about concerns over Arch Manning’s capabilities.

“He’ll bounce back in the next three games. It’s really second-tier programs. But I don’t think it’s just a hey, it was jitters. I had some concerns. I can’t unsee it,” Colin Cowherd said (Timestamp 1:10). “I know that’s punitive and harsh, but this is Manning. I joked about this before the game. Family dinners are events. I don’t want to hear he was nervous. It was more than that. It was kind of jarring.”

Josh Pate Discusses Arch Manning’s Season Debut Against Ohio State

On the show, Colin Cowherd was joined by college football insider Josh Pate. They discussed various topics, including Arch Manning. Pate spoke about how he was not surprised that Manning did not perform as well as many pundits projected. However, he was surprised by a few glaring flaws in his game over the weekend.

“They never expected it to be like the preview magazine culture expected it to be. So, it wasn’t a shock to me that they tried to ease him in,” Josh Pate said (Timestamp 2:20). “I think the jarring part for me, I was up there, I was standing on the field. You didn’t even need to watch the secondary line of scrimmage. If you just put your eyes on him, you could tell the moment the ball came out of his hand, that’s not a good ball.”

As Cowherd pointed out, Arch Manning and the Longhorns will have the opportunity to get into a rhythm over the next few weeks against some weaker opponents: San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston. Afterwards, the team has a bye week before playing its next ranked opponent, No. 13-ranked Florida, on Oct. 4.
