“Bill Got Bills To Pay”: Colin Cowherd Delivers Scathing Rant On Bill Belichick’s Nightmare Record At UNC Amid Buyout Rumors

Bill Belichick’s college football debut season may also be his last as rumors are starting to hit that the head coach is negotiating a buyout with North Carolina. Earlier, the former New England Patriots coach signed a five-year contract in December.

In the wake of buyout rumors, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd issued scathing remarks, insinuating that Belichick had no interest in coaching college football but he only said yes to it once there was no opportunity in the NFL.

“North Carolina and Belichick are already working on a buyout,” Cowherd said on his show.
“From the beginning, I thought it was a bit of a money grab. He showed no interest in college football. None. Bill had bills. The NFL said, no thanks. And Bill’s got bills to pay. And Bill’s like, oh, I’ll take it. I mean, the whole thing has felt weird.”

Cowherd also commented on Belichick’s relationship with much younger girlfriend Jordon Hudson.

“Like, the Jordan-Hudson relationship doesn’t bother me, to each their own. But, I mean, she’s kind of the age of some of the players, maybe? Carolina had a buy. Bill goes to Nantucket with his girlfriend,” Cowherd added.

Colin Cowherd Shares Important Detail In Bill Belichick’s Buyout

Bill Belichick’s five-year contract is worth $50 million. However, only $10 million is guaranteed annually for the first three years. There is a special provision in Belichick’s contract which became effective since June this year. As per the clause, if Belichick wants to leave UNC within a year, he can do so by paying a $1 million buyout fee. Cowherd shared the detail on the show, saying:

“Bill and his agent negotiated a very, very small buyout, meaning if Bill got a job within a year, he could leave.”

There have been several reasons why Belichick might want to leave college football. His team is off to a terrible 2-3 start. Moreover, his coaching staff member is suspended after giving access to student’s parents to sidelines, violating an NCAA rule. Despite this challenges, Belichick and the program have reaffirmed their commitments.
