Coach Prime Honors Michael Irvin’s Impact During His Cancer Battle Following Hall Of Famer’s Raw Confession: “I Saw the Hurting”

NFL greats Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders and Michael Irvin have been friends for decades, with the two being close since their days with the Super Bowl-winning Dallas Cowboys. The two have been reconnecting as of late, with Sanders appearing on Irvin’s YouTube channel multiple times.

Irvin visited Sanders in Boulder, with the two having a heart-to-heart talk, and Sanders chose to open up to his old friend regarding his cancer battle. Coach Prime especially thanked his former teammate about all the support he gave during that difficult period of his life:

“When you came into my house, you came as my brother and you lifted me, man, like you used to so often do when we played together. you lifted me. So, it was about the cameras of the this or that. It wasn’t about that. It was about the brother come to see another brother to lift him up. And that’s what you did. Yeah,” Coach Prime said.

“And I saw it when I was there. I saw the hurting sometime. I remember the last time I saw your face and had that worry was when I was laying on the carpet and you were standing over me praying. Praying. Yeah. And I said, “Oh, God.” Cuz I that’s the last time I saw that face from you,” he added.

“I’m so glad you were doing this, man. I was that like, whoa, man,” Sanders continued.

Coach Prime kept his cancer battle from the public for months, with only a select few people knowing that he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his bladder. The University of Colorado, where he worked, helped him out and surgically removed the tumor, and he is now cancer-free.

Shedeur Sanders Explains Why He Does Not Want Coach Prime Visiting Him

Shedeur Sanders has now officially left the nest as he takes part in the QB1 race for the Cleveland Browns. He has been vocal on him not wanting his dad, Deion Sanders, visiting him at Akron and he revealed why:

“I don’t want him coming to see me right now because I want to get to where I want to go, then for him to see me,” he told reporters on Monday. “I don’t want him to come and see me get a couple reps, and he is cheering like a good dad. Like, nah, you can’t be proud of me right now. I got to get to where I’m going, and I know it’s a lot I got to do to get there.”

“It’s kind of like I just want everything that I’m doing is just focus on this time, and I don’t want no distractions because we know how the media, we know how everybody would take it and take away from the team, just from him being my own dad showing up. So, it is a gift and a curse at the same time,” he added.

The elder Sanders, who is busy with his own training camp at Colorado, has not been traveling much since his cancer battle. He is regarded as one of the greatest NFL players of all time, and his arrival at Akron would just be a distraction, as his son has pointed out.
