Time and again, Colorado Buffaloes WR/CB Travis Hunter has proven he is a generational talent. What he has achieved for Colorado in the 2024 season is nothing short of historic, as excelling on both sides of the ball is nearly unheard of.
Hunter credits head coach Deion Sanders for his success, and in return, Coach Prime has made it clear he expects nothing less than a Heisman Trophy.
Deion Sanders Hungry Despite Travis Hunter’s Two Big Achievements
On Thursday, Hunter won the Biletnikoff and Bednarik awards, further solidifying his status as a two-way star. Although he was snubbed for the Jim Thorpe Award, the Bednarik ensured his defensive prowess did not go unrecognized.
While speaking to ESPN after the achievement, Sanders jokingly reminded Hunter of what’s next, making it clear he expects nothing less than the Heisman.
“We got another award to pick up, right? Saturday, right? It’s going to be something happening if we don’t pick up that award, I’m just letting y’all know,” Sanders quipped.

Similarly, Hunter, widely considered a top favorite, expressed his hopes of earning the coveted honor. Ahead of Saturday’s ceremony, he reflected on the significance of this moment and his journey from an HBCU to following Coach Prime’s path.
“It would definitely set my legacy in college football,” Hunter said about the prospect of winning the trophy. “I’ve worked so hard for this moment. I started this thing with Coach Prime and Shedeur. I want to finish it off right,” he added, per SI.
