“Would You Rather Them Go Out and Smoke and Drink?”: Coach Prime Opens Up On Son Deion Sanders Jr.’s ‘Red House’ Album

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is best known for his career as a football player and now as a coach. However, he also dabbled in music during his playing career. Notably, in 1994, he released a hip hop album titled “Prime Time.” His sons mostly followed in his footsteps when it came to playing football, with all three of Shedeur, Shilo, and Deion Sanders Jr. playing at the college level.

However, on July 22, Deion Jr. stepped into the music world, releasing his new album, “Red House.” On Wednesday, Coach Prime was featured in a video posted by “Well Off Media” on YouTube. In the video, Deion Sanders spoke about how proud he is of his kids and is happy to support them, no matter the industry they want to pursue. He even talked about helping build a music studio on his property.

“I’m proud of all my kids, boys. You know, I know you’re going to make a big deal out of them rapping and doing music, but that’s what their dad did,” Deion Sanders said (5:55). “That’s the way my kids release what’s inside.

“Would you rather them go out and smoke and drinking, or doing stupid things in the club or whatever that’s not conducive to the success? Or pinning their thoughts and articulating a song? I’d rather that. So they asked me, ‘Can I build a studio?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, let’s find a spot.’ So, I’ll show you what I’m thinking.”

Deion Sanders then showed a section of his property that he thought would be a good spot for a studio to be built. Deion Jr’s new album features 12 songs and runs for 26 minutes total. It was not his first step into the music world, as he has released several albums over the years, starting with Gideon in 2021, according to his Spotify discography.

Coach Prime Has Tried To Help His Sons in Many Ways, Including Protecting Them From the Severity of His Illness

It is not surprising to hear that Coach Prime is willing to help Deion Sanders Jr’s music career by building a studio. He often does everything he can to support his children in their careers and personal lives.

A notable example came as part of his bladder cancer diagnosis. On Monday, Coach Prime revealed that he had his bladder removed because of a cancerous tumor discovered in it. While at the Monday press conference, Sanders also revealed that his sons did not know the severity of his diagnosis.

He protected them from the truth by saying that he was dealing with something with his foot. He wanted them focused on their lives rather than worrying about him.
