Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, appeared at the Big 12 media days on Wednesday. After being unavailable in June because of an unspecified health issue, Coach Prime made his first public experience to talk about the team since then at the Big 12 media days.
In an interview at Big 12 media days, Sanders, who is worth $60 million as per Celebrity Net Worth, was asked about how the Buffaloes will do this year despite losing two of their best players, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, to the NFL.
“Well we won’t have those two phenomenal players, but we will have a phenomenal team,” Sanders said. “We’re not as good individually but we’re better collectively.”
Sanders was then asked about the rumors from earlier in the offseason that he would no longer be interested in coaching the Buffaloes now that his son Shedeur is no longer on the team.
“Why was that? Why would would that be a factor? Why would I have interest in doing what God blessed me to do? That don’t make sense whatsoever,” Sanders said. “Don’t forget I have two sons right. What about Shilo? It’s easier for me man because I don’t have to be two things. I don’t have to be a father and a coach.
“Now I can just be the coach and I don’t have to look and make sure, I’m a dad and he’s doing his job. I’m a dad and he’s doing his job on the defensive side. Now I can just focus on these young men. I love so many of them like they’re my sons. I truly do and some of them act like they’re my sons, but I don’t have any biological sons on the team right now. But I’m proud of them man, but I love the challenge. I really do.”

Coach Prime Will Have a Much More Inexperienced Team Next Season
A lack of talent from the loss of star players could be an issue for the Colorado Buffaloes next season. However, possibly an even bigger issue could be the lack of experience. With Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders leaving, a lot of the team’s experience goes with it.
Notably, the Buffaloes will be lacking in experience at the quarterback position. Five-star recruit Julian Lewis is competing to win the starting job and he will not even turn 18 until September. So, there could certainly be growing pains for the Buffaloes next season.
