“Haven’t Been Challenged This Year”: Indiana HC Curt Cignetti Scoffs At OSU’s Schedule Ahead of Big Ten Championship Showdown

Indiana Hoosiers Head Coach Curt Cignetti, ahead of his team’s much-anticipated Big Ten Championship side against defending national champions Ohio State, expressed his thoughts on the Buckeyes, with both sides ready to lock horns on 6th December at the Lucas Oil Stadium.

Upon being asked the difference between this year’s Ohio State this year and last year’s, Cignetti acknowledged the national champions, calling the Buckeyes “a great football team.”

He then went on to sing praises to his counterpart head coach Ryan Day, calling him a great coach whilst also predicting he’ll be deemed a legend of the game at some time in the future.

However, the Hoosiers’ head coach also highlighted that the Buckeyes haven’t really been challenged all season, also referencing some of their previous games this season, perhaps insinuating that the Hoosiers could potentially dent their unbeaten record in the Big Ten championships.

“They (Ohio State) really haven’t been challenged this year”, Cignetti stated (1:00).

“The Texas game was 14, nothing. Texas scored three minutes ago in the game. Michigan did have some success early. And then Ohio State took control of the game. And I think other than the Texas game, 18 points is the closest point differential in all their games”, Cignetti further supported his Claim (1:03).

Both sides come into this game unbeaten with a 12-0 record, which is the first time in Big Ten Championship history that both teams have perfect records. The winner of this encounter will be crowned with the Big Ten title and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff, while the loser likely gets the No. 4 seed spot.

Curt Cignetti Highlights Ohio State’s Fast Physical Gameplay

Cignetti, while speaking about the Buckeyes, further acknowledged their game style, which has culminated in their success so far. The Hoosiers’ head coach observed that Ohio State’s game style is a lot faster and more physical than usual, and they have a supposedly nasty edge on the field.

“And the thing about Ohio state, they play fast, they play physical, nasty with an edge”, Cignetti observed (0:55).

He also spoke about the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia, and how the team is giving up the fewest amount of points so far, giving up only 200 yards a game and 130 yards passing.
