Looking to cash in on Charlotte? Will you take a flier on the Owls? If you’re going to take advantage of the Charlotte vs. FAU odds, consider some of the following factors before you part with your hard-earned cash.
The former CUSA foes have met eight times since 2015, and heading into their first meeting as AAC members, FAU holds a 6-2 advantage having won the last four consecutive matchups. The Owls are favorites to extend that streak, and while their strike rate is 1-1 in that position so far in 2023, our Charlotte vs. FAU prediction goes with the oddsmakers.
Tom Herman’s team has covered the spread in three of their last four, and you could argue that the +2.5 line against UTSA wasn’t indicative of the true gap in talent between those two teams. We digress. Charlotte has failed to cover when the spread is below six points, losing to Georgia State and Navy in those two games. Add FAU to that list of teams, with the Owls set to cover.
Charlotte’s offensive deficiency but defensive proficiency should lead this to be a low-scoring affair. Their last four games have come under the points line. Meanwhile, FAU has more games under than over so far this season. Our Charlotte vs. FAU prediction has the total coming just one point under the line.

There’s just one college football game on Friday to compile your DFS team from in Week 9. If you’re new to DFS, Fanduel One-Game contests allow you to select four FLEX positions in one-game slates from the quarterback, running backs, wide receivers, and tight end positions. One-game slates give you an MVP that scores 1.5x the points of a normal player.
Kick off your Charlotte vs. FAU picks with a surprise selection at quarterback. 49ers quarterback Jalon Jones isn’t going to be winning any Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards anytime soon, but he has more rushing touchdowns than the rest of the team combined. Someone is going to have to score the points, and Jones is the most likely. He’s the fantasy QB10 in the AAC.
While the 49ers lean on Jones in the ground game, the rest of the running back room has been used rotationally. Budget might force your hand in taking one of them, and Shadrick Byrd has handled a decent workload the last two weeks. He’s not found the end zone yet this year, but with seven career touchdowns, he’s capable of doing so.
FAU’s Larry McCammon III is the obvious running back starter. He’s a top-10 fantasy back with 86.8 points so far in 2023 and has double-digit carries in his last four appearances. You’ll need three WRs, and Jack Hestera and Tony Johnson are viable WR2 and WR3 options. FAU standout Lajohntay Wester is a “must-start” who leads the Owls in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.
Prediction for Charlotte vs. FAU
Okay, so we’ve furnished you with the Charlotte vs. FAU odds and some DFS picks. Now, it’s time to close this thing out with our prediction. Will a Charlotte win level these two teams at 2-2 in the AAC? Or will FAU fly past the 49ers to go 3-1 in conference play and return to .500 with a third of the season to go?
Charlotte comes into the game fresh off their first FBS win of the season and first-ever AAC win. The 49ers defense was dominated in the win over East Carolina, restricting the Pirates to 127 total yards and 10 first downs. After shipping a ton of points early in the season, Biff Poggi’s team now sits fourth in the AAC for scoring defense — allowing 22.7 points per game.

After adding Power Five pieces like Eyabi Okie, Nikhai Hill-Green, and Demon Clowney, Charlotte ranks fifth in the AAC for sacks per game. Poggi’s team was always going to be defensively difficult to face, and they should be able to put pressure on an offense who have turned to Daniel Richardson at QB following injury to former Texas and Nebraska transfer Casey Thompson.
While that might be the case, FAU has the offensive firepower with McCammon and Wester to be a comfortable victor in this Friday night clash. While there’s plenty of positives for the Charlotte defense, their offense has been suboptimal — ranking 131st in the nation with just 14.6 points per game.
They’ll simply struggle to outscore the Owls, who move to three AAC wins.
Prediction: FAU 23, Charlotte 14
