Always willing to speak his mind, Charles Barkley is stepping in to defend one of the most talked-about coaches. The Auburn legend is stating clearly who he thinks is being singled out during the continuous media attention surrounding Bill Belichick’s relationship with the 24-year-old Jordon Hudson.
Belichick has made headlines for his off-field personal life. His relationship with Hudson, a former cheerleader, has been on sports news all offseason. It seems there has been little to no headline coverage about his actual football strategy.
Though the age difference has drawn attention, Barkley thinks the coverage is more about people still wanting to make fun of the six-time Super Bowl champion than it is about real concern for the couple.
During a recent appearance on “Pardon My Take”, Barkley was clear about his stance on Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson.
“She needs to stand down,” Barkley said. “I struggle whether to call coach, and I prefer to stay out of people’s personal (business), but she’s got to stand down. Because you got to understand something. They’re using her to get to Bill and she has to understand that because people don’t like Bill, and he deserves some blame for that, because the way he treated the media. Now, the way it ended in New England, they want to get him back.”
Barkley, who admitted that Belichick was one of his friends, also expressed that he hopes the 73-year-old is successful.
“So they’re using her to get to him. I just hope he’s successful, because he’s a great dude. He’s the greatest pro football coach ever, because Coach Saban is the greatest college coach ever. I want to see him finish on a high note, that’s my number one concern. I want to see him finish on a high note.”

What’s ahead for Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels in 2025?
Some would describe the Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels’ schedule as sneakily difficult, but let’s face it, this year isn’t an excuse. They play a high-tough game early against TCU to start the season, but then things get much easier.
Georgia Tech, SMU, Miami, Louisville, and Florida State are all good ACC opponents that the Heels avoid. Chapel Hill will have to host Clemson, which is the slate’s greatest threat.
As far as the rest, there is some breathing room before traveling to California thanks to a bye week. After that, they will play four games against teams that had losing records last year. All the road games are pretty doable as well. Syracuse and NC State may present difficulties, but neither is a game where UNC will be fighting for its life.
Still, there are plenty of questions about where the ceiling is in Bill Belichick’s first year. There will be growing pains as there are for any first-year coach. But UNC has a realistic chance to have its first ten-win season since 2015.
