“Ain’t Looking Too Good”: Chad Johnson Minces No Words As He Discusses QB Struggles at Deion Sanders’ Colorado

The Colorado Buffaloes are facing an uphill battle only three weeks into the new season. Deion Sanders entered the year under heavy scrutiny after losing key stars, and so far, the results have been far from encouraging.

Colorado sits at 1-2, and the latest setback against Houston has magnified the problems that already existed within the roster. The Week 3 clash with Houston was another reminder of how quickly the Buffaloes can lose control of a game.

Colorado’s offense looked flat early. By the time momentum shifted, Houston had already built rhythm to secure a win. At the heart of the team’s issues lies the quarterback situation. With Shedeur Sanders no longer at the helm, the Buffaloes turned to Ryan Staub.

He showed promise against Delaware, but his play against Houston raised serious concerns. He completed 19 of 35 passes for 204 yards, had one touchdown, and threw two interceptions. Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe discussed the Buffs QB failures on “Nightcap.”

“It all starts at the quarterback position,” Johnson said. “So, you’ve got to find whoever your answer is and got to stick with him…Through the ups and the downs. All that merry-go-round at the quarterback position ain’t looking too good. Ain’t looking too promising.” (0:43)

As Johnson pointed out, they need stability at the quarterback position, need sharper execution of their plans, and it all needs to be done urgently. Until those pieces come together, every week will feel like a mountain climb for Colorado.

Bleacher Report’s Ben Sheppard Trashed Colorado’s Offense

Since the beginning of the season, the conversation around Colorado has been that the team was in a rebuilding phase. Losing two key players like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter was bound to take a toll on the team.

Without them, the team lacks leadership and stability. Even with acceptable reasoning behind their decline, it’s disappointing to see the mistakes that the Buffs are making every week. Bleacher Report’s Ben Sheppard recently presented his blunt criticism of their offense.

“Life without Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter at Colorado never was going to be easy, and coach Deion Sanders is seeing that firsthand,” Sheppard wrote.

Sheppard stated that with Sanders and Hunter, the Buffs were able to make a statement in the last season. While they must’ve expected a decline in the team’s overall performance this season, seeing the Buffs be mediocre wasn’t on anyone’s list of predictions.

“Now, with guys like quarterback Sanders and do-it-all Hunter off to the NFL, restocking the shelf hasn’t been easy,” Sheppard added.

After the loss against Houston, Coach Prime took to Instagram to share a motivational message for his team. He still believes that his team can turn it around in the coming weeks. But the fans will only be convinced once they see the results.
