Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels will possibly suffer a demotion in rankings if their head coach leaves the program after Friday’s Egg Bowl game against Mississippi State. Kiffin has been associated with various head coaching vacancies of various notable Power Five programs even though he continuously claims that he will remain with Ole Miss throughout the end of the season.
With a 10-1 record heading into the final week, the Rebels are in line to enter the 12-time College Football Playoff field, assuming they don’t lose their final game of the regular season. They are currently ranked No. 6, but if the CFP committee feels that the head coach will depart the program after this Friday, the Rebels might face a demotion in rankings. This received further confirmation when a committee member revealed what would happen if Kiffin leaves before the end of this week.
“Six-Seven,” the member said.

This has put fans in disarray on the possible outcomes if Kiffin indeed leaves the program.
“man just reveal the damn polls already,” one fan reacted.
“Embarrassing! This has become a SNL skit,” another fan added.
“Football should be so serious 😂😂” one fan wrote.
“Yeah, if he leaves, they are OUT. That’s what this tells me. FSU went unbeaten and were left out cause their QB1 was injured for the season. If Lane leaves, they’re not letting Ole Miss in with a substitute HC. So now, Lane will be a villain if he bolts Oxford,” another fan added.
Meanwhile, some fans tried to draw the attention of committe over rankings of two other programs.
“Drug test immediately for the committee, they have no idea what they are doing showing Utah above @VandyFootball says all you need to know,” one fan commented.
“Utah is ahead of Vandy and we’re making 6-7 jokes and laughing?” one fan asked.

Ole Miss AD Expects To Get Answer From Lane Kiffin After Friday’s Game
The upcoming Egg Bowl game against Mississippi State is important for couple of reasons, both involving the future of the Ole Miss Rebels at center.
Amig the intense coaching speculations tying Lane Kiffin’s name to available vacancies at LSU and Florida, Ole Miss athletic director said he met with the head coach and confirmed that the school expects an announcement on his future after this week’s rivalry game.
“Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss … an announcement on Coach Kiffin’s future is expected the Saturday following the game,” Carter said.
It remains to be seen if the CFB committee considers Kiffin’s future while giving final rankings to all programs.
