Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has confirmed that he will not be leaving the Colorado Buffaloes and has every intention of remaining at Boulder for the duration of his coaching career. This statement contradicts reports that have been floating through football media, claiming that the Buffs head coach had plans to leave Colorado and follow his sons into the NFL.
Coach Prime has repeatedly shot down these reports, but on his appearance on “The Pacman Jones Show” on Tuesday (Dec. 17), he reemphasized his commitment to Colorado, adding that he intends to not only remain in Boulder for the foreseeable future but also hopes to retire there.
Deion Sanders Doubles Down on Commitment to Colorado Buffaloes
Sanders’ appearance on “The Pacman Jones Show” should have assured fans that he has every intention of remaining in Colorado.
“I love where I am. I’m elated about where I am. I’m happy where I am. I can’t wait to see what the future holds with where I am, and I love Boulder, Colorado,” Sanders said.
“I have every intention, every plan in the world to be coaching for the Colorado Buffs from here on. I want to finish here. I want to put the flag — I want my name on the mountains out there. I want to put my flag down in Colorado.”
Sanders has solidified his status as a head coach. If there were any doubts about his ability at the start of his coaching career, those doubts have now been removed. Coach Prime is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in college football.
When Sanders took on the role of head coach for the Buffaloes, he found a struggling team that had just closed a season with a 1-11 record. In his second season with the Buffs, they ended the regular season with a 9-3 record, just one loss shy of making it to the Big 12 Championship Game. He coached Colorado to their first bowl game in four years, and his star player, Travis Hunter, went on to win the 2024 Heisman.
Considering the amount of success he’s been able to attain in such a short time, it is reasonable for people to assume Coach Prime will be moving to the NFL in the near future. But Sanders sees things differently — to him, he is right at home in Boulder.
