‘I’ve Purchased All the LaNorris Sellers Stock’ — CFB Insider Goes All-In on South Carolina’s QB After Viral Highlights

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is starting to feel less like a rising star and more like a full-blown college football phenomenon. This is especially true after his 2024 campaign, during which he went on to produce over 2,900 yards of total offense and 24 touchdowns. No doubt, that hype is following him into 2025.

With Sellers leading the team, the Gamecocks have morphed from SEC underdogs to genuine contenders. And there are even whispers of a possible Heisman run. While the stats are up, it’s the vibe around Sellers that analysts and fans are betting on.

CFB Insider JD PicKell Can’t Hide His LaNorris Sellers Obsession

It is not every day that the world sees a college football analyst turn into a full-on fanboy. But JD PicKell, national analyst at On3, has officially gone all-in on LaNorris Sellers’ stock. And he has decided not to be subtle about it.

“I’ve quite literally purchased all LaNorris Sellers stock that I can find. Even had them check the back to make sure there wasn’t any stock left,” PicKell joked, adding, “This might have been the play that sparked the purchase spree.” And this is no ordinary praise coming from an analyst.

PicKell went off in his podcast, “The Hard Count,” describing Sellers as a player who wears a cape on the field. The way PicKell sees it, there were moments last season when Sellers defied logic. He went through defenders, dancing out of sacks, and generally doing things that quarterbacks shouldn’t be able to do.

As Pickell puts it, “He shouldn’t break 18 tackles against Clemson or Texas A&M.” But the factor that is really putting Sellers on top is the fact that he reminded PicKell of watching Cam Newton and Johnny Manziel in their prime. Not that he’s directly comparing the styles, but the impact is quite similar.

“When 16 is on the field,” PicKell explained, “South Carolina can beat anyone.” The greatness of LaNorris Sellers, however, is not just about him. JD PicKell went on to say that if Sellers is the main course, South Carolina needs the right “sides” to complete the meal.

And EDGE Dylan Stewart and Nyck Harbor could be just that. If the supporting cast shows up, the whole Gamecock offense could serve up something special this season. The theory, of course, will be tested rather early on.

The South Carolina Gamecocks start their 2025 season on August 31 against Virginia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. It goes without saying that the world will be watching Sellers closely with the hopes that he can turn all this preseason hype into something real on the field.

If PicKell is right, Sellers and the Gamecocks might just create one of the greatest seasons in recent memory.
