Players like Jalen Milroe, Ryan Williams, and Ty Simpson decided to stay loyal to the Alabama dynasty after Nick Saban announced his retirement following the 2023 national championship game against Michigan.
However, that wasn’t the case with everybody; many star players, such as Amari NiBlack, Ohio State’s Caleb Downs, and Texas’s Isaiah Bond, decided to jump ship and enter the transfer portal.
Bond entered the transfer portal soon after Saban’s exit and joined Steve Sarkisian’s team for the 2024 college football season.
While he had a fairly impressive season and ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, Bond went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft that took place in May. To make things worse, he is still an undrafted free agent in the league.

Reacting to this, some fans expressed their thoughts:
“Its cause he traded on bama shouldve stayed wasnt a need to leave.” one fan blamed the Alabama move for not being picked by an NFL team.
“I bet he wouldn’t be if he stayed at #Bama.” another fan agreed.
“That’s how you know the case is bad and has hella evidence. They only gave Dashawn and Justin a few game suspensions.” Another fan conspired about Bond’s ongoing sexual assault case.
“Is the guy that cant catch ?? I believe one of the WR’s on Texas constantly jumps to catch the ball against his body, he is unable to catch with his hands.” another fan took a shot at Bond.
“He went un drafted due to his piss poor attitude according to reports any way….there’s definitely something wrong if a team doesn’t even want to take a chance on him. Something we don’t know truly.” Another fan added.
“Leaving bama was a big mistake.” another fan commented.
Why Did Isaiah Bond Leave Alabama?
Texas Longhorns star had an NIL value of $643k, which is one of the main reasons behind his decision to leave Alabama after Saban’s move.
During a conversation with ESPN in 2024, Bond attributed his decision to leave Alabama to Saban’s exit and even talked about how his focus was on his NFL draft stock.
“One hundred percent. That was the decision why I left,” Bond told ESPN [referring to Saban’s retirement]. “Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company. My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I’m putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock.”
“It was really a business decision. I’m not taking any hatred in my heart. Nothing personal. I’m going to do what’s best for me and my family.”
Saban left the Crimson Tide program after leading the pack for 17 years.
