Sherrone Moore’s Recruiting Blitz Brings Elite EDGE Prospect to Michigan

5-star EDGE Carter Meadows, who committed to Sherron Moore’s Michigan, ranked 6th overall by On3 and 36th in the 247 Sports composite. He chose Moore over offers from other programs, including Ohio State, Penn State and South Carolina.

His recruitment saw pivotal efforts from Moore, defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and defensive line coach Lou Esposito. The 6’6″, 225-lb pass rusher was drawn to Michigan’s elite “NFL-style” defense.

“I think their history of winning and tradition and upholding their standard of excellences in all walks of life, on the field, off the field that’s what makes it special,” Meadows said via On3.

“I think my relationship with the coaches,” Meadows added. “Coach Espo, Coach Moore, Coach Wink I’d love to play in that NFL style defense and I have a great relationship with all of them and that’s what sealed it.”

Michigan now boasts 17 commits and ranks in the top 10 nationally in the 2026 class, per 247 Sports. There’s a good chance Michigan adds more from their recruiting efforts as more visits and potential are lining up to set their future at Michigan.

As for 2025 season, freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood will be tasked to deliver for Sherrone Moore’s program.
