CFB 26 Update: Patch Notes For All Upcoming Changes (July 24th)

EA Sports is set to launch a new update of CFB 26 on Thursday, called Campus Huddle. The update fixes several issues fans had encountered since the game’s launch on July 10. CFB 26 is the second installment of EA Sports’ newest college football franchise, which replaced the old NCAA Football titles that stopped being published in 2014.

The update aims to fix small bugs that the game had been presenting, like improper animations, weird player behaviors, or faulty weather. These are not uncommon problems for contemporary video games, but the ability to quickly send out updates to users, thanks to fast internet connections, has meant games on launch rarely represent fully polished versions of the software.

The game has a positive overall reception, with it currently holding an 85 Metascore on Metacritic.

EA Sports Teases New Basketball Franchise

It seems like EA Sports wants to take full advantage of the changing winds in the economics of college sports. A year after reigniting its college football business, the video game developer is deep at work on reinitiating their basketball series.

On June 30th, EA Sports posted a cryptic tweet to its X account, confirming the development of a college basketball video game.

However, that doesn’t mean college hoops fans should expect the title any time soon. While EA Sports hasn’t released an official timeline for the release of the video game, reports indicate that the most likely release year would be 2028.

College basketball has been absent from the videogame industry for even longer than college football. The last college basketball game published by EA Sports was NCAA Basketball 10 in 2009.

EA Sports could face competition in this particular area, as 2K Sports, the publishers of the NBA 2K series, are also rumored to be working on their own college basketball video game. 2K Sports also had its own college basketball series in the 2000s, which ended in 2007 with College Hoops 2K8.
