Carson Beck is making his debut with the U after having transferred to the ACC school from Georgia during the offseason. Initially, he had declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, but as he saw his stock drop early in the year, he decided to return to college football for one final season to further develop his game. Analysts have compared the move to the one made by Cam Ward in 2024, as he also moved to Miami for one final year of college football.
His sister, Kylie Beck, also left Athens in the wake of her brother’s decision to transfer. She was a cheerleader with the Bulldogs for two seasons, but decided to move to the state of Florida after Carson left the school. It’s unclear if the 19-year-old has continued her studies or if she moved to the state to be close to her brother.

For comparison, Notre Dame’s CJ Carr has recorded just 54 passing yards with one touchdown. His completion percentage is slightly higher, at 66.6%, but he has only attempted 12 passes.
The game is an important one for Miami to enter the College Football Playoff conversation. Miami entered Week 1 of the season as the No. 10 team in the nation, according to the AP Poll. If they can beat the No. 6 team in the nation and the last national championship runners-up, they will become a serious contender for the national title.
