Carson Beck Spotlight Questioned As Josh Pate Points To Miami’s Bigger Offensive Test

The seventh-ranked Texas A&M are set to host the No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes as both teams look to clinch an all-important playoff victory on Saturday, December 20, at Kyle Field.

Whilst discussing the all-important playoff fixture on the ESPN College Football Show, one name that was the point of discussion throughout the program was the Hurricanes’ star quarterback Carson Beck.

When asked if this match was a Carson Beck game for the Miami-based side, college football analyst Josh Pate put his foot down, saying the game is more about Miami’s offense and not just about Beck. He insisted that believing it to be Beck’s game is a disservice for the signal caller.

“It’s a Miami offense game. It’s not just a Carson Beck game,” Pate stated on the ESPN College Football Show (2:58).

“I think if this falls squarely on the shoulders of Carson Beck, you’ve kind of done him a disservice on the road in this environment,” he further elaborated (3:01).

Pate, while talking about whether the Aggies would be able to stop Beck and the Miami offense as a whole, stated only time will answer that question. However, he did point out that Miami head coach Mario Cristobal will play a crucial role against Texas A&M, as he is touted to assemble a “stockpile of big bodies along the offensive line.”

Pate further elaborated how Miami’s success is dependent on the team as a whole, as they eventually need a collective offensive effort in the end.

Mario Cristobal Praises Miami Hurricanes’ Offensive Growth Over The Past Month

Miami’s head coach Mario Cristobal, while discussing the Hurricanes’ offensive game in a press conference earlier this week, pointed out how their offensive play has improved from last month. He acknowledged how they have managed to create explosive plays while also attributing the improvement to a combination of a lot of things.

“Well, I think (the offense) it’s improved the last month or so. I think we’ve created more explosive plays. I think it’s a combination of a lot of things,” Cristobal stated.

Earlier this month, the college playoff rankings saw the Miami Hurricanes finish in the 10th spot ahead of the Notre Dame Irish, a decision that split a lot of college football fans as well as analysts down the middle.

Ever since the Hurricane’s selection in the playoff stage of the campaign, Miami’s Cristobal has been in preparation mode and, during his weekly press conference, also highlighted the importance of an extra week’s worth of rest for the playoff preparation.
