He emphasized that a quarterback’s job extends beyond throwing passes, it also involves leadership, accountability, and setting the tone for the locker room.
In Newton’s eyes, blaming teammates, even indirectly, can fracture trust and erode respect among players.
“Mr. Beck, when you’re getting paid, how you’re getting paid, brother, that stat line doesn’t look conducive to what you’re getting paid. So be very, very careful, shhh. Take the high road,” Newton said.
