After transferring from Georgia, Carson Beck was expected to take the reins of the Miami Hurricanes’ offense. However, his recovery from a UCL injury has raised concerns. Head coach Mario Cristobal recently shared a positive update on Beck’s progress, offering hope that the quarterback will be back in action sooner than expected.

Carson Beck Is Almost Ready to Make His Return to the Front Line
Carson Beck suffered a torn UCL in his throwing arm during Georgia’s SEC Championship Game against Texas last season. The injury needed surgery, and his recovery timeline was initially uncertain. Some feared he wouldn’t be ready until fall camp, but Cristobal’s latest comments suggest Beck is ahead of schedule.
“He’s doing well,” Cristobal said during an interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter. “He’s running really fast. He’s not throwing the ball yet, but he’s very close to doing so. He’s taking part in all the stuff that he can do and should be throwing soon. Maybe in a couple of weeks.”

This news comes at a crucial time for Miami, with spring practices set to begin on March 3. The Hurricanes’ Spring Game is scheduled for April 12 at Cobb Stadium, and while it’s unclear if Beck will participate, his progress is encouraging.
Beck’s arrival in Miami is part of Cristobal’s aggressive offseason strategy to rebuild the Hurricanes’ offense. With former quarterback Cam Ward and several top playmakers gone, Beck is expected to be the new leader under center.
Cristobal has high expectations for Beck, comparing him to Ward, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024.
“The size, the accuracy, the strong arm, the ability to just elevate a football team—he’s poised to have a great season with the right protections and the right scheme,” Cristobal said.
Miami had the No. 1 offense in the nation last season, and Cristobal believes Beck is a perfect fit for their system.
“Our scheme is designed to be really powerful and strong up front,” he explained. “Get the ball to the playmakers outside, protect him well in a diversified passing game that has a lot of autonomy to it. So, he fits us… perfect.”
The Hurricanes have high hopes for 2025 after missing out on the ACC title and College Football Playoff last year. With an overhauled roster and a talented quarterback in Beck, Miami’s offense could be just as explosive as before.

The biggest question now is whether Beck will be fully ready for the start of the season. While he won’t be throwing immediately, the fact that he is expected to start doing so in the coming weeks is a great sign.
If his recovery continues smoothly, Miami fans could see their new quarterback in action sooner rather than later.
