Jacksonville State’s Cam Cook announced his arrival to the Gamecocks with gusto in 2025. However, despite everything he accomplished this season, the running back is looking for greener pastures.
The bellcow put in a league-leading performance in many categories in 2025, but appears to be heading elsewhere, per 247 Sports. Here’s a look at five different landing spots that make sense for the back.

#5 – Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers are a widely respected program that has a need at running back. While not quite up to its standard in 2025, the program has plenty of respect under Dabo Sweeney, and if the other schools don’t work out, Clemson would still be a quality result in the gamut of possibilities.
#4 – Ole Miss Rebels
The Ole Miss Rebels managing to make a run without its head coach is a great story and shows how deep the program is. It is unclear what could happen in 2025, but if Cam Cook wants to play with Trinidad Chambliss, who has his own up-and-comer story, it’s now or never.
#3 – Texas Tech
Texas Tech played well enough to secure a bye in the College Football Playoff, but it’s clear the team needs more offense after getting shut out against the Oregon Ducks. Adding Cam Cook could help improve the running half of the equation.
#2 – Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricanes clearly know how to put together a dominant defense. However, its running back room needs work as it trails much of the country in average rushing yards per game. Adding Cam Cook might be the final piece, and if Miami can make a deep run in 2026, it could get a perfect spotlight on Cook and set up an NFL Draft run.

It seems that almost no matter what happens, all eyes will be on Arch Manning in 2026. If the goal is to get the biggest stage possible, being Manning’s right-hand back would be the way to do it. The team has a need for improvement in the running back room as well, so it sets up well for Cam Cook.
