The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders in Shedeur Sanders, is getting calls from social media to have an expanded role in the Cleveland Browns. Entering this 2025 NFL season, Sanders is slated as a rookie quarterback for coach Kevin Stefanski’s Browns, and has recently started their first campaign together.
But, unfortunately for them and the rest of the Browns faithful, Cleveland went on to lose their first game of the new NFL season in dramatic fashion. This is because Sanders and Co. lost to coach Zac Taylor’s Cincinnati Bengals by a mere point, 17-16, on their home pitch, the Huntington Bank Field. Sanders, subsequently, was not used by the Browns coaching staff throughout the game.

College football fans and spectators then mount together to call for Sanders to be inserted more in the Cleveland game plan.
“Shedeur should be starting week 2,” one fan claimed.

“Put Shedeur In Next Week. I’m So Serious,” another fan asserted.
“I’ve seen enough, start Shedeur next week,” another user said.
“Put Shedeur in,” a fan wrote.
Other users all over X/Twitter then gave their own thoughts on the QB landscape of the Browns with Sanders as a starter.
“Browns win that game if they start Shedeur Sanders,” one fan shared.
“Shedeur Sanders could’ve done better than half these QB’s today. It’s been ugly every game,” another fan posted.
“Cleveland Browns lost, I get the feeling that absolutely no one is gonna lose sleep over it. We wanna see Shedeur Sanders, not some 40-year-old washed-up white dude,” a user explained.
Sanders was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft with the 144st overall pick. Previously, he spent four years playing in collegiate football with the first two being spent with the Jackson State Tigers and the last two with the Colorado Buffaloes. Throughout his standout college tenure, Shedeur Sanders had his father, NFL legend Deion Sanders, as a coach.

Coach Kevin Stefanski Pinpointed The Factor That Led To The Week One Loss
During post-game interviews in a report published by writer Irie Harris on Cleveland.com, Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski gave his own perception on what exactly led to his team faltering to the Cincinnati Bengals late in their 2025 season opener. For coach Stefanski, it boils down to the small mistakes and lapses that they made against a formidable foe that could take advantage of them.
“You know, very, very disappointing to come away with a loss in that game. Can’t be minus 2 (on turnovers) versus a good football team. That’s the story of this football game. Tip balls, and we gotta play cleaner. There are a thousand things that we can do better from a coaching staff, from a player standpoint, but we have to do a better job securing that rock. We obviously missed a field goal, missed an extra point,” Stefanski was quoted as saying.
“Those are points, and in these types of games, you have to come away with (points). So, it hurts when you feel like you’re doing some good things,” he continued.
Coach Stefanski’s Browns, fielded by the likes of Shedeur Sanders, now turn their attention towards the Baltimore Ravens for their week two matchup. Their game is slated to occur on Sunday, Sept. 14, in the latter’s home pitch, the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
