The No. 22-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish head to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks on Saturday. Neither team has started the season strongly, and as a result, this game was expected to give fans an idea of which team could get back into playoff contention. If the first half was any indication, it is clear that Notre Dame is a step above Arkansas.
Through the first half, Notre Dame emerged with a massive 42-13 lead. While the Fighting Irish were favored to win this game, taking such a huge lead in the first half was unexpected.
Arkansas *might* have the worst defense we’ve seen in recent years…
Notre Dame’s offense in the FIRST HALF:
• 42 points
• 420 yards
• 10.2 Yds per play
• 3-4 on 3rd down, 1-1 on 4th pic.twitter.com/n4dKYayMFC— Im not a fan of your favorite team (@fsh733) September 27, 2025
This led to a huge reaction from fans as many expressed their frustration on X. Many even started to call for head coach Sam Pittman’s job.
“FIRE PITTMAN NOW! EMBARRASSING THE DAMN STATE!” one fan wrote.
“42-13 on our own field at the half! Stadium is emptying! Sam Pittman gotta go!” one fan commented.
“Sam Pittman and Hunter Yurachek deserve every second of this. Losers. Get out of my state,” one fan added.
Fans continued to react to the game on X.
“Sam Pittman might not make it out of the locker room,” one fan wrote.
“It’s probably time for Arkansas to move on from Sam Pittman. Just saying,” one fan commented.
“If your Arkansas I don’t know how much more you can take it’s time to move on from Sam Pittman,” one fan added.

Sam Pittman’s Record with Arkansas Has Been Middling
It is never a good idea for college programs to overreact to one game. However, head coach Sam Pittman has not had a perfect tenure with Arkansas. Since arriving in 2020, he has had only three winning seasons. His best season came in 2021 when he led the Razorbacks to a 9-4 record and a win in the Outback Bowl.
Pittman and the Razorbacks are coming off a year where they finished 11th in the SEC, and it does not look like they have made improvements this season. The team is likely heading towards a 2-3 start. To make matters worse, it has a tough schedule, with games against five ranked opponents still to come in Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Texas, and Missouri.
