BYU Transfer Carson Suesue Makes Surprise Move to Oklahoma State After Position Switch

Like many other programs, Big 12 powerhouse Oklahoma State is exploring every option to build its roster before the new season begins. So, when they announced that BYU linebacker Carson Suesue is now part of their program, many believed the Salt Lake City native would strengthen the team’s defense as a linebacker.

However, reports suggest that Oklahoma State expects him to transition to an offensive role as a tight end.

Carson Suesue Commits to Oklahoma State via Transfer Portal in Stunning Position Switch

Former BYU linebacker Carson Suesue has officially joined Oklahoma State through the NCAA transfer portal. At first, this move might seem unusual, especially since Suesue was a former three-star recruit. But what sets him apart is his rare ability to play multiple positions.

His football journey began in high school as a quarterback, where he showed impressive talent. He passed for 3,295 yards and 33 touchdowns and also rushed for 709 yards and 9 touchdowns. Because of his versatility, BYU recruited him as an “athlete” — someone capable of playing on either side of the ball.

Then at BYU, he transitioned from quarterback to linebacker. Although he didn’t record any game stats during his time there, his athletic background remained solid. That versatility was enough to catch the attention of Oklahoma State.

Now at Oklahoma State, he is expected to switch positions again, this time to tight end. Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 240 pounds, his physical build makes him a perfect fit for the role. He will help fill the gap left by Jordan Owens, who transferred to OSU in January but later reentered the portal.

This latest switch highlights how valuable his flexibility can be. The ex-Cougar standout brings size and strength, which could help Oklahoma State in blocking situations or as a red-zone target. His skill set may become especially important when facing tough, physical defenses in the Big 12.
