Top 8 BYU Jokes Cracking Up the Internet As Cougars Seemingly Lose Playoffs Spot During Texas Tech Matchup

The BYU Cougars needed to win the Big 12 championship game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, despite jumping to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the Cougars were shut down for the remaining three quarters to lose the game 34-7.

This marks an end to the Cougars’ hopes of making the playoffs, as they did a favor to at-large hopeful teams like Notre Dame and Miami in the process.

Social media cracked jokes at the expense of the Cougars following their blowout loss in the Big 12 championship game. We’ve saved you the top eight BYU jokes taking the internet by storm.

BYU’s strong season came to an end on Saturday, though they still have a bowl game to play. In the loss, quarterback Bear Bachmeier was intercepted twice. They struggled both on passing (137 yards) and rushing fronts (63 yards). BYU also lost two fumbles and were forced to punt before they could get to the endzones in the final three quarters.

BYU Feels Disrespected by the CFP Committee

Earlier this week, the College Football Playoff committee placed the BYU Cougars at No. 11 despite finishing the regular season at 11-1, which was a better record than No. 8 Indiana, No. 9 Alabama and No. 10 Notre Dame, who had 10-2 overall records each.

This rendered BYU to needing a win in the Big 12 championship game if they want to qualify for the playoffs. Ahead of their game against Texas Tech, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake called out the CFP committee for disrespectful treatment.

“I’m just going to be honest, it’s a little disrespectful,” Sitake said on “BYU Sports Nation.”

He also called out ESPN for snubbing BYU in their graphic for playoff scenarios involving Alabama, Notre Dame and Miami.

“If your job is to put the comparisons up there, but you leave the BYU graphic out and you’re comparing other schools, and then last week when you go nine through 15 and you put them all up except you subtract BYU and Utah, it seems like that’s kind of maybe done on purpose and maybe a committee shouldn’t be doing that on purpose, you know, in my opinion,” Sitake said.

It’s clear BYU is not enjoying this kind of isolation from college football stakeholders.
