The 2025 NFL Draft doesn’t take place until April 24-26, but the hype train for BYU cornerback Jakob Robinson is already rolling as he looks to translate his college success to the NFL. Don’t believe me, just ask his former defensive coach.
BYU’s Jay Hill Raves About CB Jakob Robinson
BYU defensive coordinator Jay Hill has been vocal about Robinson’s talent, taking to social media to sing his praises.
“I love Jakob Robinson,” Hill tweeted. In another post, he added: “Man, will I miss coaching JRob. Absolute playmaker! @NFL, this guy will make you happy. Draft him, and you will love him!”
Robinson finished his career at BYU second all-time in career interceptions (11) after transferring from Utah State via the transfer portal in 2021. He originally signed with the Aggies in the summer of 2020.
Scouting Jakob Robinson Ahead of the NFL Draft
Blair Angulo of 247Sports broke down Robinson’s skill set as a transfer portal athlete, calling him a:
“Proven cornerback who is smooth through his backpedal, with decent fluidity and the ability to turn his hips to change direction. Flashes above-average ball skills and athleticism to go up for the football in one-on-one scenarios.”
Robinson’s size and ability to defend receivers in motion will be key factors in his NFL evaluation.
During the 2024 season, Robinson recorded:
- 43 total tackles
- Five pass deflections
- Three interceptions
- One forced fumble
- One fumble recovery
