The Michigan Wolverines are closing in on naming their starting quarterback for the 2025 season. It appears as if that player is none other than freshman Bryce Underwood.

Bryce Underwood to be Michigan’s Starter This Season?
According to On3 insider Pete Nakos, freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood is trending toward becoming Michigan’s starting quarterback this season.
Underwood was the No. 1 overall ranked high school football player in the nation within the 2025 recruiting class.

The Detroit native was named the Gatorade Player of the Year twice in the state of Michigan and was also a two-time state champion at Belleville High School. Across all four years at Belleville, Underwood recorded nearly 13,000 all-purpose yards, 179 total touchdowns, and he led his team to a record of 50-4 during his career.
Now, he will seek to electrify college football, and there might not be a better place to do it than in Ann Arbor.
Michigan Looking to Bounce Back After Tough 2024 Season
The Wolverines did not necessarily have the best season in head coach Sherrone Moore’s first full season in charge. They won just eight games overall and went 5-4 in Big Ten play, which was good enough for seventh place in the conference.
It is time for the program to get back on top. Luckily for the folks around the program in Ann Arbor, the team beat Ohio State at the end of the regular season to keep the rivalry in their favor for another year.
For Underwood, he will look to put his stamp on that rivalry and the Wolverines’ season as a freshman. On Michigan’s schedule sits Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wisconsin, USC, Washington, and Michigan State. There could be no better way for Underwood to announce his arrival to the world of college football than dominating that schedule. If he were to do that, the Wolverines might have a chance to contend for a national title immediately.
