The LSU Tigers are preparing intensely for the upcoming college football season. Being a part of the most competitive conference (SEC) in the FBS, there will be no easy game for head coach Brian Kelly’s team.
On Monday, a new snippet from their training camp in Baton Rouge was released where players, including starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, can be seen actively engaged in the drills.
At the start of the video, Nussmeier can be seen making a lazy throw, leaving Kelly unimpressed. He urged the quarterback in his ears to do better.
“We can’t f**king go half speed,” Kelly said in the background of the video. “I want it to be that when you walk in this building, you have a sense of what to expect on a day-to-day basis, the standards. People use the word ‘culture.’ You have to cast a vision for what you’re wanting to accomplish.”
Later in the video, Kelly went full tilt on the defensive line for not putting in their best efforts. Kelly can be heard saying:
“Listen to me, man, I’m going to say it one more f**king time. If you want to come out here and go half speed, go ahead. I’m going f**king in. Is that clear? If you guys want to go half speed, let me know now. Stop wasting my time. Get your a**es going.”

The one thing that is clear from the above video is that Kelly won’t be soft when preparing his boys for what appears to be a big season ahead.

Brian Kelly Knows How Tough It Can Be To Come Out of SEC
In the same video, Brian Kelly also highlighted that his boys are playing in a tough Southeastern Conference, where every team is seen as a potential contender to win it all. Therefore, his team should know what’s at stake.
“Week in and week out, in the SEC, it’s on,” Kelly said. “You can never get by with your B-game. You’re going to get beat.”
The LSU coach further highlighted that his players are used to his hard coaching style, as he believes being in the ears of players for their shortcomings is a way to make them do better.
“Our players—they know who I am. And they know that the coach is hard on them. Nothing inside. Every single day. Get your a** going. Somebody’s got to be hard on them,” Kelly added.
It remains to be seen if Brian Kelly can lead LSU back to the College Football Playoff after missing it last season.
