The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to be one of the best college football programs for wide receivers. That has to be attributed to the recruiting job done by Brian Hartline, the great wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator.

Brian Hartline Is Set to Coach One of the Best Wide Receiver Rooms in the Country
Two years from now, the Buckeyes are set to have perhaps the best wide receiver room in the country, yet again. In the 2026-2027 season, superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will be in his third year in Columbus, and elite prospect Chris Henry Jr. will be a freshman.
In the 2026-27 Season, we’re gonna have:
Year 3 Jeremiah Smith
Year 3 Brandon Inniss
Year 1 Chris Henry Jr.
Year 2 Quincy Porter
Year 3 Mylan Graham
Year 4 Bryson Rodgers https://t.co/vmpcaxHLZy— ®️ogertisby (@SweetBabyRah) April 1, 2025
Hartline, a former two-time 1,000-yard receiver for the Miami Dolphins, knows how to attract great talent out wide and in the slot.
A former Ohio State Buckeye himself, Hartline has been an offensive assistant since 2017 and has been a key piece of head coach Ryan Day’s staff for years. Now, he has made it known that he is one of the best position recruiters in college football.
Great Ohio State Wide Receivers Brian Hartline Has Coached
Since starting to coach in Columbus, Hartline has coached some great pass-catchers. Terry McLaurin, Chris Olave, Parris Campbell, Marvin Harrison Jr., Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, and Xavier Johnson are all current NFL wide receivers who were coached by Hartline.
Of course, McLaurin, Olave, Wilson, and Smith-Njigba are all either Pro Bowl or 1,000-yard receivers. Now, some schools are certainly known for attracting a talent crop of certain position players.
LSU is also known for coaching great wide receivers (Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Malik Nabers, etc.).
Wisconsin is known for producing some of the best college running backs (Melvin Gordon, Ron Dayne, Jonathan Taylor, etc.).
The other part of the game is being able to coach that elite talent. Not only do you need to be a great recruiter at a strong program, but you also have to be able to coach. Hartline has proven to be that and much more.
