De’Andre Pierce: Football Roots and Playing Pedigree

Football has always been important to De’Andre, and it has played a big role in his career. He watched his father play a key role in leading the New York Giants to victory in Super Bowl XLII, which inspired him to fall in love with the game.

De’Andre developed into a three-star recruit and played at Boise State, where he made 90 solo tackles and earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention. He later transferred to Arizona State, where he played under his father’s coaching. He earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and received the Darren Woodson Outstanding Secondary Award.

After having a promising college career and doing well at his Pro Day workouts, Pierce was not drafted or signed by the NFL. However, he quickly transitioned into coaching, serving as a quality control coach for Cal Poly and the Las Vegas Raiders. This role gave him valuable experience in film analysis, opponent scouting, and defensive planning.

What Pierce Brings to the Table

His experience in the NFL and Division I programs gives Pierce knowledge of the latest defensive strategies and preparation. Working now at the same age as many athletes, he finds it easy to connect with them and break down technical issues in ways they appreciate.

With a recognizable name and strong network, Pierce could help attract talented defensive back prospects aiming to sharpen their skills for the pro level. His background in quality control means he is skilled in film study, opponent evaluation, and refining secondary performance.

Welcoming De’Andre Pierce into the Sacramento State coaching staff indicates Brennan Marion’s commitment to excellence and smart staffing decisions as he embarks on his first season.
