Branson Robinson Transfer Portal Landing Spots: Where Will the Former 4-Star RB Land?

Branson Robinson is a powerful, bruising running back who spent the last three seasons as a member of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Across two seasons on the field, he carried the ball 93 times and amassed 403 yards with six rushing touchdowns. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, where could the former four-star recruit finish his college career?

    Where Could Branson Robinson Transfer?

Included in the 2022 recruiting class, Robinson secured over 10 offers scattered between the SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12. The Canton, MS, native could opt to reconnect with those coaching staffs or transfer closer to home. Multiple high-level programs also have vacancies at the running back position, with Robinson serving as a replacement.

Using that knowledge, here are five potential programs that the talented former Bulldogs running back may end up with.

    Tennessee Volunteers

One of Robinson’s several official visits, the Volunteers are enduring the departure of star running back Dylan Sampson to the 2025 NFL Draft. The two rushing leaders behind him each rushed for over 300 yards in their freshman seasons, with neither creating much separation over the other.

With the former Bulldogs back on the market as a redshirt junior come the 2025-26 season, head coach Josh Heupel would be wise to reach back out an inquire about Robinson’s interests.

Securing the commitment of a proven running back in the SEC would clear up some of the concerns of having two unproven players lead the charge in the fall.

    Alabama Crimson Tide

Another one of Robinson’s official visits, the Crimson Tide struggled to run the ball with their running backs last season. While senior Jam Miller will return, Justice Haynes, the Tide’s third-leading rusher behind Miller and QB Jalen Milroe, opted to transfer to join the Michigan Wolverines.

Alabama used a running back by committee approach in 2024 with those two backs — with Robinson, they could once again deploy that same strategy.

    Clemson Tigers

Fresh off a College Football Playoff berth, the Tigers find themselves with a need for a veteran at the running back position. Their starter in 2024-25, Phil Mafah, is headed to the NFL after a terrific career. The backup was freshman Jay Haynes, who ran for less than 300 yards.

Add in that Haynes has a slight frame at under 200 pounds, and Robinson could fit right into a rotation in the backfield. Head coach Dabo Swinney is still the decision maker for Clemson and could dip back into the mix for the former four-star back.

    Florida State Seminoles

Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell offered Robinson out of high school and also could restart conversation with him after an extremely disappointing 2-10 season. The running back competition should be wide open in Tallahassee, as the top ball-carrier last season failed to eclipse 500 yards.

With his experience and physical running style, Robinson surely could find a role with Florida State. Norvell has been known to use the transfer portal as a way to rebuild his team — the addition of Robinson would be a step in the right direction.

    Michigan Wolverines

With the departures of top running backs Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards to the NFL Draft, Robinson could fill an immediate void for the Wolverines. Mullings, at 6’2″, 233 pounds, played a similar role to the bowling ball that Robinson is but at a much larger scale.

If head coach Sherrone Moore were able to secure the commitment of the former Bulldog, he’s have an experienced back to help grind out yards and score short-yardage touchdowns. On top of it all, Robinson would fit the mold of a tough, rugged image that the Wolverines exude.
