Five-star safety Bralan Womack was wowed during his visit to Florida last weekend. Ohio State was previously thought to be the favorite in the race for him, but Billy Napier and his program now have the inside track.

Womack, who racked up 39 tackles and eight interceptions as a defender at Hartfield Academy (Miss.), is a highly-sought-after talent in the Class of 2026. Florida is treating him as a priority.
“Well, he said that Florida made the jump I think they were hoping to make in his recruitment, that this team is special and headed in the right direction,” Wiltfong said Tuesday in an On3 video posted on YouTube. “And, at the visit, he didn’t think it was gonna be as good as it turned out, but it was great, him and his parents loved it. Again, he talked about where this program is going, the potential impact he could have on it.
“And his father told me that Florida set the bar this weekend. Ohio State was the leader coming into official visit season, but he’s been to Florida a couple times. The relationship with (Gators co-defensive coordinator Vinnie) Sunseri is one that goes back a long way. They enjoyed it in the swamp and Florida is for real in the recruitment of Bralan Womack.”
247Sports’ composite list ranks Womack as the No. 1 safety nationally and the No. 2 player in Mississippi, behind only receiver Tristen Keys, the No. 3 overall player in the country and an LSU commit.
The Buckeyes already have two committed safeties in the cycle in four-stars Simeon Caldwell and Blaine Bradford. According to 247Sports, Womack has visits scheduled for Texas A&M (June 6), Auburn (June 13), and Ohio State (June 20).
Andrew Ivins, 247Sports’ director of scouting, likens Womack to current Buckeyes standout safety and potential top-10 2026 NFL Draft choice Caleb Downs.
“Advanced safety prospect that checks off box after box with his size, versatility, athleticism and football IQ,” Ivins wrote in a scouting report in January. “Followed up a dominant junior campaign in which he earned Gatorade Mississippi Player of the Year honors with an excellent week of practices at the Navy All-American Bowl where he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
