Is Brady Cook Playing This Week? Latest Injury Update for Missouri QB Isn’t Promising

Brady Cook was injured two weeks ago, but after trying to play against Alabama in last week, his status for Missouri's Week 11 game against Oklahoma is in doubt.

Missouri Tigers fans held their breath as their season teetered on the edge back in Week 8. Star quarterback Brady Cook dropped back to pass on a crucial 2nd & 8 deep in opponent territory and nearly lost his footing—a slip that could have taken Missouri’s season down with him.

Cook eventually returned, rallying to keep the Tigers’ hopes alive, but the latest update puts his status in serious doubt against Oklahoma.

Is Brady Cook Playing vs. Oklahoma?

Following a poor showing against Alabama on a clearly hobbled ankle, Cook was removed from the game against the Crimson Tide. Missouri then fell to Alabama, 34-0, and Cook only threw 12 passes in the disastrous showing.

Now, eyeing down a surging Oklahoma team, the Tigers are set to likely be without Cook for the whole game in Week 11.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Cook is set to miss the game against Oklahoma, ending his consecutive start streak at 35 games. Drew Pyne is now expected to start for Missouri in Cook’s place.

    What Happened to Brady Cook?

It was a simple 2nd & 8 dropback early in the second quarter against Auburn. Cook dropped back to pass from the shotgun, and as he went to plant his back foot and move away from a collapsing pocket, it was clear something was wrong.

Cook’s legs buckled, and he tried to run away from pressure, but it looked like his legs couldn’t hold up any longer than they already had. He dove to avoid taking a sack on what appeared to be just one leg.

Cook lightly jogged off the field, grimacing and not putting weight on his injured leg in the process.

He was later seen heading into the locker room under his own power.

As bad as it was, however, it was stated on the broadcast that it was an ‘ankle injury’ and he would be getting the ankle taped and he would likely return to the game.

Following the halftime break, Cook famously returned to the action, stating his intentions were not to sit and watch his few opportunities left to play for Missouri slip by him.

But that was weeks ago at this rate, and now Cook has a poor showing against Alabama that showed how injured he was and how bad the Tigers’ offense was without him at full health.

Pyne is now set to go for Cook with the Tigers still alive in the SEC Championship picture.
